In Loving Memory of
Therese M. Farrington
October 8, 1926 – October 29, 2023
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Therese Farrington of Mineola on Sunday afternoon, October 29, 2023 at the age of 97. A loving wife, sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, godmother, sister, aunt, and a friend to many.
Therese was born in East Elmhurst, Queens NY on October 8, 1926 to Michael and Marie Breazzano, along with a brother, Carl Breazzano. She was raised with deep values and a strong sense of family, which became the foundation of her life.
In 1945, Therese married her childhood sweetheart (the red-headed boy across the street), Joseph C. Farrington. They were happily married for 43 years until 1988, when Joseph passed away from illness. Together, they raised 5 children. Their oldest child, Helen A. Farrington, passed away on June 14, 2023 from illness.
Therese is survived by her 4 children; Michael C. Farrington, Joseph J. Farrington, Margaret M. Lella, and Mary Anne Hale.
Therese is survived by 8 grandchildren; Michelle Vahle, Paul Spitaleri, Christopher Spitaleri, Joseph Farrington, Michael Farrington, Peter Farrington, Erica Mackey, and Hollie Hale. She is also survived by 8 great-grandchildren; William Vahle, Kathryn Vahle, Finlay Spitaleri, Grace Spitaleri, Kayla Mackey, Lucy Spitaleri, Madelyn Spitaleri, and Sophia Spitaleri.
Therese was dedicated to service for the Queens Chamber of Commerce where she spent most of her time and energy volunteering. She was also a dedicated volunteer for the Red Cross and the American Heart Association. In her spare time, Therese often worked the various polling places for state, city, and county elections.
Therese loved her family very much, and her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the pride and joy of her life. She was loved by so many, and not a harsh word was ever said about her. Her beautiful smile and infectious laugh would always make you smile.
Therese was a great woman and will be surely missed by everyone who knew her. May she rest in peace.
