Stuart Mark Goldstein passed away peacefully on Monday, September 29th, 2025, with his wife by his side.
Affectionately known as Stu, he dedicated over 20 years of service as an Auxiliary Police Officer with the Nassau County Police Department, where he rose to the rank of Captain in the Village of Mineola. He went on to continue his commitment to the community as a Code Enforcement Officer, retiring from the Village in 2019.
A man of many passions, Stu was a beloved Santa impersonator, a dedicated Mets fan, and, for many years, a long-suffering Giants supporter. In the end, however, he proudly declared himself a Kansas City Chiefs fan because, as he liked to say, "the Giants just couldn’t get it together."
He was also deeply devoted to rescuing and caring for animals. He now reunites with his late companions Amber, Cali, Oscar, Peanut, and Max. Left to miss him dearly is his beloved dog Luna.
Stu will be remembered for his humor, quick wit, and signature catchphrases such as “fugetaboutit” to “come on, knucklehead.” His personality always shined bright and left a lasting impression on those around him.
Stuart will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but we take comfort in knowing he is reunited with his cherished four-legged companions.
He is survived by his loving wife, Maribel Rivera-Goldstein; his daughters, Frances Yurkiw and Stephanie Rubi; and his grandsons: Aidan Rubi, and Mason and Grayson Yurkiw, who brought him endless joy.
In his own words, he would leave us with: “Let’s go home, I’m tired and I gotta feed the cats.”
