Silvestre Martins Ramalhete

Silvestre Martins Ramalhete passed away on Tuesday, January 3, 2023, after a hard-fought battle with

pancreatic cancer. He was 72.

Silvestre, born in Portugal, came to the United States at the young age of 16 to pursue the American

dream. Silvestre’s resilience and determination in life contributed to many of his achievements including

his successful career as an operator engineer for over 40 years. His willingness to help others and his big

heart were also at the core of his being. Never forgetting his roots, Silvestre enjoyed returning to

Portugal as often as possible to breathe in the fresh, crisp mountain air of his beloved town, Sapelos. His

sweet smile and crystal blue eyes will be terribly missed.

Silvestre is survived by his three children - Paul, Nelson and Lisa; a son-in-law – Antonio; two daughters-

in-law – Marisa and Cristina; and 10 grandchildren – Danyl, Brianna, Michelle, Cayla, Alexa, Brandon,

Alissa, Nicholas, Jenna and Leah.

Silvestre’s family will host a Funeral Service on Friday, January 6, 2023 during the hours of 2pm-5pm and

7pm-9pm at Cassidy Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be at Corpus Christi R.C. Church in Mineola, NY on Saturday, January 7, 2023 at 9:30am.

In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that you consider making a donation to the Lustgarten Foundation

for Pancreatic Cancer Research or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital in memory of Silvestre.
