Salvatore Vincent Bordonaro

Salvatore Vincent Bordonaro was born on April 24, 1941 to Apulina and Giacomo Bordonaro. He was born a twin in the Bronx with an older sister that he adored. He worked as a draftsman and later as a project manager until he was 79 years old. He resisted retirement as he loved his work, the feeling of being productive, of having purpose and most especially because he was a people person who liked to get up every morning and connect with others over a cup of black coffee and an egg sandwich. 

His most valued positions in life were that of husband, father, son, sibling, brother-in-law, cousin, uncle and friend. His motto was “family first.” His legacy lives on with everyone he loved, cared for and touched with his generous spirit. 

He loved simply. Building dollhouses, train sets and model boats. He and his wife, Ursula, enjoyed traveling and “snow birding” in Florida. What he most enjoyed was a cold beer and a good home cooked Sicilian meal. 

He is survived by his wife, Ursula, his daughters, Jacquie and Lisa, and their husbands, Constantino and Anthony. He has four wonderful grandchildren named Constantino Salvatore, Jaclin, Krystyna and Phyllise. He was their greatest cheerleader, and a square shooter when asked his opinion (which was sometimes asked for and sometimes not!)

He is also survived by his faithful friends in Mineola,especially those members of Corpus Christi Church. How blessed he was to have been surrounded by such a wonderful circle of family and friends.
