Ronald (Ron) Annette, age 66, died peacefully on February 24, 2025 after a battle with pancreatic cancer. Ron is survived by his wife Joanne, and his daughter Danielle.
Ron was born in Mineola, NY on December 16, 1958, to William and Jennie Annette. Throughout his life, Ron was a dog lover and had many furry friends, but he had a special soft spot for small dogs including a pet dachshund in his youth, and in his adult years, his family pets Lulu and Snowy.
An avid Yankee fan, Ron enjoyed watching, attending, and rehashing games with his daughter, his Boobah, Danielle. He instilled a love of the game in her, and they often bonded over great plays and a genuine love of the sport, but their relationship was more than just baseball. Ron and Danielle had a special relationship and loved talking about anything and everything, but most importantly they loved laughing together. Ron had a wonderful sense of humor and a contagious laugh, which he shared with anyone willing to find humor in the everyday.
When he wasn’t laughing or watching Yankee games, Ron spent much of his time and spirit devoted to music. A lifelong musician, Ron was an accomplished guitarist and a band leader. Over time, this translated to him becoming a DJ and spreading his love of music with all the people around him, and even opening up J&R’s Party Place: A venue where he and his wife could share a love of music with children who celebrated their birthdays by making their own music videos, for which he supplied the instruments and soundtrack.
Ron also treasured spending time with the love of his life, his wife Joanne. The two of them loved to attend events with live music, and spent their summers following That 70’s Band around Long Island, enjoying the atmosphere, the music, and the chance to dance. When they weren’t chasing the music, Ron and Joanne enjoyed vacationing in warm climates and going to the beach where they could relax together in the sun and water.
He was blessed to spend most of his final days surrounded by the warmth of loved ones. The family who survives him will miss him dearly—Ron’s energy and life are irreplaceable, but the memories of him will continue to bring a deep sense of joy and comfort to those who knew him. Nobody will ever be able to utter, “Oh Jazoo” without invoking the spirit of his love and humor.
Visitation for Ron will be held on Sunday, March 2 from 2:00-5:00 pm and 7:00-9:00 pm at Cassidy Funeral Home on Willis Avenue in Mineola. The final visitation will take place the next morning from 9:00-10:00 am, followed by a funeral mass across the street at Corpus Christi Roman Catholic Church at 10:15 am. Ron’s final resting place will be at the Queen of Peace Cemetery in Old Westbury.
