Michael Flaherty

Michael, Mike, Big Mike, The Big Cheese, what a man. Born in Albertson NY, after his three siblings William, Thomas and Diane, raised by his loving parents Jeanette and Vincent Flaherty. He worked day in and day out for the Town of North Hempstead and volunteered at the Fire Dept. In 1980 he met the love of his life Denise Goulet. Three years later they married. They spent 44 amazing years together. Throughout this time he went through his fair share of station wagons, coffee, cigarettes, white castle burgers, laughs, and loving moments. Mike and Denise had four children: Michael, Matthew, Marissa, and Daniel and were recently given two grandchildren: Johnny and Isabella, who became Mike’s best friends immediately. His knowledge of mechanics, plumbing, construction, electricity, culinary, birthdates, phone numbers, and Christmas light repairs was almost as vast as the love he had for his family. If you ever were stuck or in trouble with any of life’s dilemmas, he was the one to call. He was always a perfectionist and nobody could do the work better than him. If a natural disaster ever occurred, his house would be the only one left standing in Westbury that's because he took all the nails out and replaced them with screws. He worked so hard to provide for his family, yet would still give the shirt off his back to anyone in need (however it wasn’t often he was wearing one). Anybody that met him instantly became his friend and he would buy them coffee if he ever got the chance to. For anybody who knew Mike would say they were blessed to have met such a loving, strong, knowledgeable, and selfless man. He will be missed by everyone and the world is a dimmer place without him.
