Michael John Eich
February 23, 1978 - August 10, 2024
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Michael John Eich on August 10, 2024, at the age of 46 after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. A dedicated member of the Mineola Fire Department and beloved karaoke host, Michael touched the lives of many through his unwavering commitment to public service and his infectious love for music.
Michael was born on February 23, 1978, in Honolulu, Hawaii. From an early age, he loved music, Broadway, and sound engineering. He brought joy to many by being involved in numerous productions at Mineola High School and beyond. Over the course of 26 years, Michael served in the Mineola Fire Department with distinction, earning numerous accolades and the respect of colleagues and the community alike.
Michael was also a passionate karaoke host, bringing joy and entertainment to countless local venues. His enthusiasm for music was infectious, and he had a remarkable ability to create an atmosphere of fun and camaraderie. Whether he was in uniform or on the microphone, Michael’s spirit was always vibrant and engaging. His love for Broadway was evident in his frequent theater visits and his vast knowledge of musicals, which he shared passionately with friends and family.
Michael is survived by his mother Eileen (McAlinden) Eich, his brother Bryan Eich, and his lifelong friend Victoria Naujokas Panebianco. He was predeceased by his father John Eich. He will be remembered for his dedication, humor, and unyielding spirit. His legacy will live on in the countless lives he touched through his heroic work and his warm-hearted presence wherever he went.
Visitation will take place on Tuesday, August 13, 2024, from 4pm - 8pm at Cassidy Funeral Home, Mineola, New York. A funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, August 14, 2024, at 10am at St. Aidan's Church, Williston Park, New York. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Lustgarten Foundation for pancreatic cancer research in Michael's honor.
Rest in peace, Michael. You will be deeply missed, but your memory will continue to inspire and uplift all who had the pleasure and honor of knowing you.
