Maryam Hilda Castaneda

Maryam Castañeda was born in Manhattan, New York, on May 25, 1946. She was a beloved wife to her husband, Haings, a caring mother to her children, Hans and Melissa, and a supportive grandmother to her grandchildren, Emily, Eric, and Anthony. She loved everyone wholeheartedly, and even at her lowest, she walked through life with a smile. Her smile and laughter were infectious and could brighten someone’s day in an instant. She will always be remembered as “mom of the block,” willing to provide for anyone in need. She was never afraid to speak her mind and was a force of nature. She was devoutly religious and believed that todo sucede por una razón and no matter what happened, it was God’s plan. She was a lover and a fighter. She fought until the end, until God reunited her with her loved ones who had passed. Her passing leaves a hole in the hearts of many, for there is no one quite like Maryam. We miss your smile, laughter, heart, and soul. But we know you are smiling down on us and guiding us from a better place. We know you are no longer hurting. Nevertheless, life will truly not be the same without you.
