Mary Letosky

Mary Letosky of Mineola NY passed away April 17th 2023, at the age of 91. Her viewing will be held at Cassidy Funeral home 156 Willis Avenue Mineola NY 11501, Thursday April 27, from 2-5pm and 7-9pm. On April 28th the day of funeral service please meet at 10-10:30 at Cassidy funeral home. Interment will be held at 11:00am at Holy Rood Cemetery, 111 Old Country Rd, Westbury NY, 11590.

On August 31, 1931, Paul and Angelina Deste celebrated the birth of their daughter Mary. Mary was born and raised in the lower east side of Manhattan. She attended Central Commercial High School where she met her future husband Michael Letosky Jr. They were married on November 11, 1951. After the wedding Mary and Michael settled in their new home in Mineola NY. It is here where they raised their children. Michael, Paul, Joseph and Carol. Mary did it all, she not only ran the household, but she regularly volunteered as a den mother for Pack 67, a 4H Leader, MAA volunteer, and her favorite as the President of the PTSA in Mineola School district. Mary cared deeply for her family and neighbors. She did this not out of obligation, but because of who she was. Mary was always the first to offer help. Mary was a teacher at Hampton Street school where she gave her time knowledge and her expertise to the students. She made sure that every child that crossed her path were safe, healthy, and happy under her care. She was a religious teacher as well at Corpus Christi Parish in Mineola. Mary moved to Apex North Carolina in 2001 to be closer to her daughter Carol and her family. Her new home reflected what she loved most, photos of her family and friends. Mary’s most enjoyable times were spent with her family. She was the central figure in the lives of her children, grand children PJ, Steven, Thomas, Luke, Derek, Alec, Joey, and Laura as well as her great grandchildren, Destiny, Reese, Vincent, Maksim, Ava, Emma, Thomas, Noah and Luke. Mary was truly a great daughter, wife, mother, and neighbor whose impact will be forever felt by her family. She never forgot a Birthday, holiday, or special day in people’s lives. She was a selfless caring person whose passing left an unfillable gap in the hearts of her loved ones. Her ability to sacrifice, provide, support, forgive and love will be forever engrained in all she knew.

Preceded in death by her husband Michael Letosky Jr. And brother Joe Deste. She is survived by her sister Marion Insalaco, her four children and eight grandchildren and nine Great grandchildren. Mary’s memory will live on through her loving Family and friends.
