Listen to Obituary

Joseph James Cassidy, 64, of Manorville, NY, passed away on January 25, 2026. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Joe was born to William Cassidy Sr. and Elizabeth (Gallagher) Cassidy, both of whom predeceased him. He was also predeceased by his brother, Bill Cassidy.

Joe grew up in New Hyde Park and graduated from New Hyde Park Memorial High School in 1978. He was a devoted brother to William (Bill) Cassidy Jr., Margaret (Peggy) Litchhult, Patricia (Pat) Victor, James (Jim) Cassidy, and Elizabeth (Liz) Cassidy, and remained deeply connected to his family throughout his life.

Joe is survived by his loving wife, Antoinette, with whom he shared a devoted marriage that began after meeting in 1984 while both worked at Chase Bank in Garden City. In true Joe fashion, thoughtful and understated, he proposed with a simple card, beginning a tradition of card-giving that became a cornerstone of their relationship and a reflection of their enduring love.

He is also survived by his three beloved children, Erin Mahony (Steven), Brian Cassidy (Alexandra), and Caitlyn Fehr (Max), who were the pride of his life, and by his five cherished grandchildren: Chase, Kinsley, Owen, Hannah, and Cameron. Joe’s greatest joy came from being “Papa,” and he treasured every moment spent playing, laughing, and making memories with them.

Joe spent much of his professional career working in telecommunications. On the weekends, he was also a mighty fine bartender, always ready with a perfectly poured drink and an even better story, bringing people together at Touch of Venice in Cutchogue. Joe had a deep love for youth sports and dedicated countless hours to coaching and refereeing basketball, softball, and soccer through CYO and the Southold School District. He especially cherished the time spent supporting his own children and the many neighborhood kids who proudly called him “Coach.”

A lifelong New York sports fan, Joe often joked that his favorite years, 1969, 1973, 1986, and 1994, said everything you needed to know about him.

Joe was a loving, hardworking man who was always ready to lend a hand. He found happiness in the simple moments, helping others, sharing a laugh, and spending time on the floor playing with his grandchildren. His kindness, generosity, and steady presence touched the lives of many.

Joe’s legacy lives on through the family he adored and the countless memories filled with love and joy that will continue to be shared and remembered.
