John Patrick Reeves (1942–2025)
Albertson, NY
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of John Patrick Reeves, who departed this life peacefully on November 5, 2025, at the age of 83. John was born on January 28, 1942, in Brooklyn, New York to John and Callie Reeves. He was a beloved son, husband, father, grandfather, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, cousin, and friend to many.
John was a dedicated husband to Rose Marie, his loving wife of 60 years, and a devoted father to Michael, John (Colleen), Scott (Lauren) and Daniel (Jennifer). He was a proud Papa to three beautiful granddaughters, Erin, Hailey and Katie, who brought him immense joy. John was preceded in death by his parents; stepfather Stanley Foster; sister Jean Potoreiko; and sister Frances Hedge.
As a veteran of the U.S. Navy, John enlisted following graduation from high school and proudly served his country with honor and integrity. After his service in the military, he became a New York City Transit Police Officer, attaining the rank of Sergeant and dedicating over 25 years to public service and the citizens of New York. Following his law enforcement career, John became an entrepreneur and business owner, successfully building Atlas Promotional Items, Inc. where he remained for 20 years, demonstrating his self-motivation, resilience and willingness to learn. In addition to his work and family commitments, John was a member of the VFW, American Legion, Freemasons and multiple law enforcement organizations throughout his life.
John was notable for his love of all animals, generosity, telling jokes, ability to socialize, kindness, great stories, interest in the stock market and performing tricks for people as an amateur magician. However, John valued his family above all else and his legacy of unconditional love, laughter, and unwavering devotion to family will continue to live on in the hearts of those he touched. As he departs from this world, he leaves an indelible mark on those who knew and loved him. Though he will be greatly missed, his spirit will remain forever enshrined in our memories.
A life well lived, rest in peace.
