Giacoma Petti

Our beautiful Giacoma Petti passed away Saturday, August 28th. Beloved wife of Carmine. Loving mother of Filippo (Jeanne), Angelina (Ueli) and Sebastiano (Kristin). Adoring grandmother of Giulia, Carmine, Maddalena, Leo, Elisa, Massimo, and Antonia. Caring sister of Filomena (Giovanni) and the late Agostino (Maria). Dear aunt, cousin, and friend to many both here in the United States and in Italy.Born and raised in Durazzano, Italy, Giacoma immigrated to the United States with her family in summer 1968. She was fourteen years old at the time. She graduated Carle Place High School with honors and went on to earn her Associates Degree in Accounting from Nassau Community College. She married the love of her life Carmine in 1975 and started her family. After several years as an accountant for Napoli Foods she went on to cofound her own business, Don Filippo Foods, all while supporting her husband’s landscaping business and being the matriarch of her family. She was an active member of the local community. She served on the board of the Maria SS. Dell’Assunta Society and Durazzano Society, where she donated her time tirelessly for more than twenty-five years and volunteered with St. Brigid’s Catholic Church regularly. However, there was no role she cherished more than that of loving and caring for her family. *** La nostra bella Giacoma Petti è morta sabato 28 agosto. Amata moglie di Carmine. Madre amorevole di Filippo (Jeanne), Angelina (Ueli) e Sebastiano (Kristin). Adorabile nonna di Giulia, Carmine, Maddalena, Leo, Elisa, Massimo e Antonia. Sorella premurosa di Filomena (Giovanni) e del defunto Agostino (Maria). Cara zia, cugina e amica di molti sia qui negli Stati Uniti che in Italia.Nata e cresciuta a Durazzano, Italia, Giacoma è emigrata negli Stati Uniti con la sua famiglia nell'estate del 1968. All'epoca aveva quattordici anni. Si è diplomata alla Carle Place High School con il massimo dei voti e ha conseguito il suo Associates Degree in Contabilità al Nassau Community College. Ha sposato l'amore della sua vita Carmine nel 1975 e ha iniziato la sua famiglia.Dopo diversi anni come contabile per Napoli Foods è stata cofondatrice  della sua attività, Don Filippo Foods, mentre sosteneva l'attività di giardinaggio del marito, senza mai tralasciare il suo ruolo di madre nella famiglia. Era un membro attivo della comunità locale. Ha servito nel consiglio della Società Maria SS. Dell'Assunta e della Società di Durazzano, dove instancabilmente donato il suo tempo per più di venticinque anni e ha fatto regolarmente volontariato nella chiesa cattolica di Santa Brigida. Tuttavia, non c'era un ruolo che amava di più di quello di amare e prendersi cura della sua famiglia.
