Frank Lazzaro, 73, of Levittown, New York, passed away on Saturday, November 19, 2022, from chronic respiratory failure, with his niece by his side, at the Northport VA Medical Center. He was born in Queens, New York on March 15, 1949, to the late Frank Lazzaro and Lena Vaccaro Lazzaro. Frank is survived by his brother-in-law Salvatore Alfarone and niece Laura Murphy (Robert). In addition, he is survived by his grandnieces, Lisa Murphy (Mark Tullio) and Christina Murphy. Besides his parents, Frank was predeceased by his sister Barbara Alfarone and brother Richard Lazzaro.
After graduating from Richmond Hill High School in 1968, Frank proudly served in the United States Army. He was stationed at Fort Bragg in North Carolina. After his service, he was a freelance Floral Decorator at the White House during the Ford, Carter and Reagan administrations. His experience led to the opening of three florist shops. After transitioning from the retail florist business, Frank created wholesale products for flower shops, worked in retail as a Visual Merchandiser and developed a website to sell merchandise. Frank’s career went in a different direction when he became an Activities Coach at AHRC Nassau. He enjoyed working with his students and they loved him too. After retiring, Frank passionately led many seminars detailing his experiences as a Floral Decorator at the White House. His shows were enjoyed by many which led him to write two self-published books, Memoirs of Decorating the White House and Floral Arranging with Creative Visualization.
Throughout his life, Frank actively served his church by being a Eucharistic minister at St. Bernard’s R.C. Church and at Mercy Medical Center. Frank was a proud member of the American Legion Levittown Post 1711 and Levittown Senior Center. He enjoyed participating in activities, attending parties and being with his friends. Frank loved spending time and holidays with his family. He had a blessed and successful life and was loved by many. Our lives were enriched through his joyous spirit. He will be missed dearly, but we are very grateful for the wonderful memories.
