Eugene Sala

Eugene Sala, age 85, passed away peacefully on Monday July 12, at his home in Red Bank NJ. He was greatly loved and will be greatly missed. He is predeceased by his wife Linda, his brother Charles, and his two sisters, Virginia Corwin and Marian Seddio. He is survived by his two sons Eugene (Cleopatra), Robert (Ann), his daughter Joan Kane(Robert), and his brother Edward. He is also survived by his 7 cherished grandchildren; Elizabeth, Emily, Jonathan, Caroline, Victoria, Kate and Ethan. Gene was born and raised in Brooklyn NY. He attended Brooklyn College and upon graduation enlisted into the Army. He then taught for many years at JHS 50 in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. He moved to Mineola in 1985 where he resided for 34 years. His retirement was filled with travel, substitute teaching, walking, reading, woodworking, crabbing, and spending time with his grandchildren. He was a husband, father, uncle, teacher, veteran, friend, and helper. But he cherished the title of grandfather most of all. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St Judes Children’s Hospital or the charity of your choice.
