Encarnacion Godoy Amican

In Loving Memory of Encarnacion Amican, 88 Passed away on February 28, 2026 Encarnacion, affectionately known as Siony, was born December 29, 1937, in Bulacan, Philippines. Siony had a passion for teaching and a natural ability to connect with others. She graduated from Philippine Normal University with a degree in education, eventually becoming a teacher at Colegio de San Juan de Letran, in Manila. As an educator, she earned the respect of her colleagues and the admiration of students and parents alike. She formed a close relationship to the clergy at the school which was run by the Dominican Order. Siony transitioned from teaching to become the principal of the elementary department in Letran, Calamba – Laguna, overseeing faculty, curriculum, and school operations. During her tenure both as a teacher and a principal, Siony encouraged students to follow their curiosity, develop their character, and lead with compassion. Even after retirement, she would go on to teach religion class to students at Corpus Christi Parish, in Mineola, NY. Siony cherished spending time with her family. She could be found making meals for her loved ones and always filled the house with song. Siony had an unwavering strength, gentle humor, and lived her life in service to the Lord. Siony is survived by her children Jay and wife Irene, Lan and wife Minnie, Edeliza and husband Stuart; grandchildren Selina, Elisha, Miko, Sadie; and many friends all whom she loved very dearly. Siony will be remembered for her warmth and guidance, and her devotion to her faith, sharing her love to everyone she knew.
