Edward V. Donoghue

February 23, 1944 — January 25, 2024

In lieu of flowers the family of Edward V. Donoghue a retired FDNY firefighter asks that any donations be made to the New York Firefighters Burn Center or the FDNY Foundation.

Edward V. Donoghue beloved husband of Kathleen A. Donoghue (predeceased) and loving father and hero to Mary Beth, Deirdre and Sean (predeceased) peacefully passed away on January 25, 2024 at St. Francis Hospital.

Big Ed as his son Sean loved to call him and all of Sean's friends called him that too, was an FDNY firefighter for over 20 years. He loved his family, his job, and helping people anyway that he could. Dad was the epitome of old school respect, morals and values.

Outside of work he continued his generosity of time and selflessness by being a lifelong donator of blood and platelets. This ensured that others would get a chance to live life to the fullest too. As his three children grew up he was involved in local community, political and school functions, as well as coached several of Sean's sports teams.

Family, friends, neighbors and coworkers call Ed one of the nicest, most patient, generous, calm, gentle, kind, wonderful men who they loved to chat with and he truly was. We will be lost without his presence, guidance, advice, quiet humor and unconditional love.

Ed's love and selflessness knew no bounds and he remained strong for and continued to be there for his daughters even in the last few weeks of his life. Dad loved his western, comedy and action movies just like his son Sean and numerous TV shows that will always remind us of him.

Love and miss you tremendously Mom, Dad and Sean ❤️
