Doris M. Jacobs

Proud to be a “Brooklyn Girl”, Doris Marie Florence Wade Jacobs was born at home, delivered by her grandmother Josephine who was a midwife. Doris was the daughter of Louis and Charlotte Wade. Doris attended Lincoln High School and studied Business courses. She married her sweet heart , Arthur Jacobs, shortly after graduation. They documented the occasion by driving onto Coney Island board walk for a photo. Doris and Arthur had three children, Carol Greaves (Roy) of North Merrick, NY, Ann Jacobs-Fey (Stephen) of Buffalo, NY and Wade Jacobs of Mineola, NY. Doris worked at Fortunoff’s for twenty years and received a watch from Mr MaxFortunoff at her retirement. She was also an active member with Mineola Golden Age Club for 30 plus years and held many offices including President. She enjoyed traveling with the Club and on her own. She was able to see Israel and Japan and several countries in Europe. She also toured a number of states in the US. Doris keep busy with her family which had grown by 8 grandchildren, 16 great grand children and 1 great great grand daughter. Doris died quietly at home having lived 101 years, 1 month and 1 day. She will be missed by all that knew and loved her.
