All of Carol's family would like to thank all of you for your love of our Mom. The donation of trees and to Hospice and Ronald McDonald house were sincerely appreciated.
We hope that we personally acknowledged everyone but if we omitted someone please
know that we appreciate your gift.
Carol , the daughter of Theresa and James Bizzaro was born on February 13, 1937 in Brooklyn,
New York.
She met the love of her life Anthony Tuzzolo at the age of 7 years old. They were married for
64 years before Anthony died . They raised five children - creating an extended family of 16
grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren with adored sons-in-law and a daughter-in-law.
Mom lived her first years on Liberty Island with her Mom and Dad and 3 siblings where her Dad
worked as a caretaker of the Statue of Liberty. She was so happy and proud to finally share
her story in Newsday and local papers throughout Long Island in the Fall of 2022 with the
help of her granddaughter Julia. This brought her so much joy.
The pride in her life was her family and for us to always “stick together”. As children we
were warmed by her adventurous spirit. We would dance together in our basement in our
Brooklyn home to all the 50’s and 70’s music and sit on our stoop at night with our TV in the
window and ice cream treats to share and chat with our Brooklyn neighbors. We moved to
the suburbs in 1976 and our home seemed so big at the time -47 years later the family grew
and grew but we always were able to manage to squeeze in a party at Grandma and
Grandpa’s house.
The upstate house was our weekend and summer retreat. Time seemed to stand still upstate.
We were able to play cards, ride our bikes, catch salamanders and frogs and enjoy being
together without distractions. We took rides to Lake George and Saratoga every summer.
Mom was lucky with the horses ! She enjoyed dancing the polka with our Dad every
weekend , worked the German Alps Festival with us as teenagers and watched the
hummingbirds on the porch with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Mom was very active throughout her life, loved tennis and golf the most and still has the ab
wheel in her bedroom closet. She loved roller coasters, para-sailing and adventures that most
moms were too scared to try – totally fearless! Her strength kept her going throughout her
illness – it was so tough for her not to participate in her favorite things but we saw her and
talked to her on a daily basis. She enjoyed board games and take-out dinners and phone calls
all day long.
Mom’s small stature was not a replica of who she was. She was so “big” in everything she did!
We will miss her love, laughter and determination and will honor her legacy forever.
