Bernadette A. O'Brien

O’Brien, Bernadette A. (nee Spears) of Mineola, 94, died peacefully at her home on October 16, 2022. Bernadette was predeceased by her beloved husband, Patrick, her sisters Muriel (Smith) and Lorraine (Schwartz), and her twin brother, Edward (Bud) Spears. She was a cherished aunt and great-aunt to many nieces and nephews.

Bernadette was passionate about her family, friends, and faith. She was a lifelong and active member of Corpus Christi Parish. Bernadette served as a member of the Religious Education Council, the Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults, and the

Pastoral Council. She also served as a Eucharistic Minister, as a Chaplain’s Assistant at Winthrop Hospital, and as a member of the Catholic Daughters of America. She and her husband were recipients of many awards in recognition of their service. These included The Pope Pius X Award, the St. Elizabeth Seton Award, and The St. John XXIII Award.

She will be lovingly remembered by those whose many lives she touched.

Relatives and friends are invited to join the family at Cassidy Funeral Home, 156 Willis Avenue, Mineola, on Thursday, October 27 for visitation from 2-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m.; and on Friday, October 28, at 9:30 a.m. for the Mass of Christian Burial at Corpus Christi Parish, 155 Garfield Avenue, Mineola. Interment will follow at Cemetery of the Holy Rood, 111 Old Country Road, Westbury, NY.
