Arline and Joe were active parishioners in Corpus Christi RC Church, both serving as Eucharistic Ministers in the church and at Winthrop University Hospital for many years. Arline was a member of the Catholic Daughters and Rosary Altar Society for over 60 years. Upon her retirement as Administrative Assistant to the Dean of the Education Department of Adelphi University in 1994 (at the age of 72), she became active in Mineola's Golden Age Club, Leisure Club, AARP and the Auxiliary of the American Legion. She took up painting as a result of a class offered through the Golden Age Club at the age of 88. She also learned Mahjong from the enthusiastic members of the Chinese Club of North Hempstead and was an avid player for many years.
Arline and Joe planned on visiting as many Marian shrines throughout the world as possible when they retired. They succeeded in offering prayers of Thanksgiving to the Lord and His Blessed Mother at Medjugorje, Lourdes, La Salette, Fatima, Guadalupe, Our Lady of Knock, Nevers, Notre Dame in Paris and Montreal, St. Anne de Beaupre, Church of the Holy Sepulchre and Our Lady’s Shrines in Oregon, New Mexico and Colorado.
Family was all-important to Arline and she served as the true matriarch to her large extended family, enriching our lives with her boundless faith and enthusiasm for life. She will be sorely missed.
