Antonio Mesquita Da Silva

Antonio Mesquita da Silva, age 76, passed away on April 22, 2022, in St. Louis, MO, following a brief illness. Tony is survived by his loving wife, Ana Paula da Silva, his daughter Ana Cristina da Silva, his son-in-law Allen McCoy, and his grandchildren, Edward, William, and Mariana, as well as countless friends and extended family. He is preceded in death by his parents. Tony was born in 1945 in Lisbon, Portugal, to his parents Antonio and Lidia da Silva, and grew up surrounded by family and lifelong neighborhood friends. He emigrated to the United States in 1970, after serving in the Portuguese Army in Mozambique. Known as Mesquita to his Portuguese-speaking friends, he resided in Mineola, NY, for 44 years before moving to Kirkwood, MO, upon the birth of his first grandchild. Hard-working, passionate about politics and Sporting, and always quick with a joke, Tony was a friend to all he met. Above all, his beloved grandchildren were his greatest pride and joy in retirement. He will be greatly missed by many. Visitation will be held at Cassidy Funeral Home on Saturday, April 30th from 10am to 12pm.
