Antonio Fernando Vilar Barbosa

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Antonio Fernando Vilar Barbosa on 9/29/24 after a courageous battle with cancer.

Antonio, (Tony, as he was known to friends and family), was born on 12/3/1951 to Domingos Barbosa & Maria de Lourdes Vilar Barbosa in Bunheiro, Murtosa in Portugal. He moved to Mineola, New York at a young age and graduated from Mineola High School in 1971.

Antonio is predeceased by his father Domingos Barbosa.

He is survived by his mother Maria de Lourdes Barbosa, his loving wife of 51 years Rosalia Barbosa, his daughter Rosalie Mendes, her husband Jose Mendes, and his granddaughters who were his pride and joy Emily Mendes, Allison Mendes, and Melanie Mendes.

Antonio had a huge heart, often telling his family how much he loved and appreciated them. He was strong and courageous and made an impact on many lives. He will forever be missed.
