Obituary for Leonardo Sinisi

Leonardo “Leo” Salvatore Sinisi, 70, returned to his heavenly home on May 16, 2021 after a valiant battle with a long illness. His devotion to his family and his firm belief in God supported him in his struggle and ultimately gave him peace.

Leo was born to Patsy Sinisi and the late Gloria Sinisi, on January 30, 1951. He was submersed into the Catholic community that would be his lifelong support from an early age. He started working in the jewelry business at a young age while he was still in high school. After he graduated from Mineola High School he fully immersed himself into the jewelry business, where he ultimately bought the business from his boss he worked for in high school. Leo was able to cultivate Jaylee Jewelry Co. Inc., where he prospered for the more than 30 years.

Leo was blessed with a large and loving family. He married his high school sweetheart after graduating from high school, and they had two girls together, Michele and Melissa. He taught them how to work hard, what leadership was, and what passion for your profession looked like. After many years, Leo met his now wife, Julieta, and they had a girl together, Gabriela. He taught her how to be strong, driven, and patient. From the very beginning, he was dedicated to his girls, was always so proud of their accomplishments, and always supported them through every endeavor.

Leo was a big and strong man, but he was a teddy bear at heart. He was the protector of his wife and children, always concerned for their safety and well-being. He was kind of shy at first but once you got to know him he wouldn’t stop cracking jokes. He had a thirst for learning about how the world worked, he adored learning about animals, and challenged himself when watching his game shows. Leo loved to travel the world with his family, he generously took his family members to Italy, Egypt, Hawaii, Dominican Republic, and many others states and countries. On the weekends he loved to go upstate to go hunting and snowmobiling, in addition to going to Atlantic City to gamble and win big. He had a hobby for homing pigeons, where he raised and raced them in hundreds of competitions. Everyone who knew him, knew about his passion for those birds. Leo was a simple man but a remarkable one, he loved his children and wife dearly, and would do anything in his power to make them happy.

Leo is survived by his wife, Julieta; his daughters Michele, Melissa, and Gabriela; his grandchildren Madison, Taylor and Noah; his sisters RoseAnn and Patricia; his brother Michael; and his father Patsy. He is preceded in death by his mother Gloria. He is dearly missed by his loved ones, who celebrate the fact that he is at peace with his creator. One day we will all meet again in heaven.
